Dear Sisters and Brothers: "Homeland is Humanity" is what José Martí -the national hero of Cuba- said while fighting Spanish colonialism. Cuban people´s cry for justice and the independence of the nation to this date, under the leadership of Fidel Castro, has been complemented with revolutionary internationalism in action from Africa to Latin America to the Middle East so much so, that "when humanity calls, Cuba answers". It answers with doctors and educators for humble communities; to volunteer troops in Algeria with medical doctors and taking in orphans that resulted from the Algerian War with the French colonizers; to assisting in bringing down the racist Apartheid regime of South Africa and defend Angola's independence shortly after Angola had gained it, which then also led to Namibia’s independence, to tens upon tens of thousands of volunteer teachers and doctors and, yet, they are on the U.S. government’s list of "state sponsors of terrorism”; What a shame! Cubans have shed their blood without requesting anything of the host nations and, for this, U.S. imperialism and its allies are bent to bring down its government and disrupt the peace of its people by carrying out a brutal economic blockade and terrorist acts! These heinous measures against a humane nation like Cuba, have to come to an end and as Gerardo Hernández -one of the anti-terrorist Cuban Five political prisoners of the U.S.- has stated, "Only a jury of millions will bring us home to our loved ones". We have also been blessed by the presence of Reverend Luis Barrios, Co-Director of IFCO-Pastors for Peace, who spoke in depth about the absurdity of the U.S. blockade as he called for justice in the cause of the Cuban Five (for more detailed photo reporting, please visit the ‘Gallery’ section on our website).
The working person knows that an "Injury to one is an injury to all". Muslims believe that "you are duty-bound to fight injustice against anyone, anywhere and at any time". The always attacked Jewish people (by the racists) and any human being with any faith or a grain of love for the sake of humanity shall accompany us within this spirit of solidarity and justice, which we in Toronto Forum on Cuba believe in. Blessed be Cuba and her friends. That is why we invite all friends of Cuba to take part in the following actions in solidarity with not only Cuba, but also the oppressed and occupied Palestinian nation:
For additional details about the above activities please check the Calendar of Events on our website. Take care and have a nice day. Brotherly, Morteza Gorgzadeh for Toronto Forum on Cuba [email protected] www.torontoforumoncuba.com
